About

A small firm that has moved a lot of companies across borders.

Kaiser International started in Seattle in 2012 with two consultants and one client shipping coffee equipment to Japan.

Interpreted business meeting
Our story

We learned this the slow way, so clients do not have to.

The first project took eleven months instead of four. Customs paperwork was filed in the wrong prefecture, the distributor wanted exclusivity nobody had agreed to, and two meetings ran without an interpreter who understood the product.

Everything we sell today came out of fixing those problems. Fourteen years later we have 34 staff across four offices, and most of our work comes from clients sending us the next company they invest in.

How we work

Three rules we do not bend.

Plain answers

If a market will not pay back the investment, we say so in the first call and give the reasons. We would rather lose the project than bill for a bad one.

Local people

Every market we sell is a market where we employ someone who lives there, speaks the language, and can be at a government office in the morning.

Finish the job

We stay until your team runs the office without us. No handover document dropped on a desk at the end of a phase.

Leadership

Run by people who still work on projects.

Mari Kaiser, our founder, spent nine years in trade finance before starting the firm and still leads the Japan and Korea work. Daniel Osei runs setup and compliance from Seattle. Ana Ruiz leads recruitment and immigration out of Mexico City.

All three sit in client meetings every week. You will not be handed to a junior after the pitch.

They told us to drop Germany and start in Poland instead. That call saved us about eight months and a lot of money we did not have.
