Director of Business Development, Asia-Pacific

About the Role

As Director of Business Development for Asia-Pacific you will own how Kaiser International finds and wins clients who want to expand between Japan, the wider Asia-Pacific region and the United States. You will build the pipeline, lead the sales conversations and work with our service teams to deliver what we promise.

Our growth depends on trusted relationships between companies in Japan, the wider region and the United States. You will be the face of Kaiser for new clients and partners and make sure every promise we make is one our teams can keep.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver the Asia-Pacific growth plan and revenue targets
  • Build relationships with companies, industry groups and partners in Japan and the United States
  • Lead client discovery meetings and proposals for our five services
  • Manage the sales pipeline and report on it every month
  • Work closely with marketing, recruitment and operations to deliver client programs
  • Hire and coach a small business development team over time
  • Identify target industries, regions and partner organizations
  • Develop messaging, proposals and pricing for each service
  • Represent Kaiser at conferences, delegations and trade events
  • Collaborate with the COO on resourcing and delivery plans
  • Coach colleagues on consultative selling
  • Model our culture and values and represent Kaiser International LLC with clients, partners and candidates
  • Report on progress and priorities to the founders and board

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in business development, sales or partnerships, with 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Track record of winning B2B clients in international markets
  • Deep familiarity with Japan or Asia-Pacific business culture
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation and relationship skills
  • Business-level Japanese or another Asia-Pacific language is a strong plus
  • Comfortable travelling in Asia and across the United States
  • Bachelor degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience managing a pipeline and meeting annual revenue goals
  • Strong network among companies, associations or government agencies in Japan or Asia-Pacific
  • Candidates authorized to work in the U.S. or Japan are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with regular travel required

As a full-time Kaiser International employee you will receive:
